Cathy Owada holds a Bachelor of Arts in English and an elementary teaching credential from San Jose State University. She began her teaching career in the Bay Area, where she taught kindergarten through third grade before relocating to Fresno in 1998.
Her connection with The Dance Studio of Fresno began in 2002 when her daughters became students. Inspired by their involvement, Cathy began taking jazz classes in 2006 and expanded her training to include tap in 2008. She continues to hone her skills as a dedicated student, attending Sue’s renowned Tuesday morning tap class.
In 2012, Cathy transitioned from student to teaching assistant, and by 2015, she began leading her own classes. Today, she teaches a wide range of dance styles, including tap, ballet, pre- ballet, tiny ballerinas, hip-hop, and acro. She is also a proud director of the Petite Elite Teams, where she helps shape young dancers into confident performers.
Cathy’s deep commitment to both dance and education is evident in her teaching, and she remains passionate about fostering creativity, discipline, and a love of the arts in her students.
